Thorneymire Woodland Retreat consists of 3-acres of Ancient Woodland within the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Ancient Woodlands are home to myth and legend, where life has remained relatively unchanged for hundreds of years and where folk tales began.
Their history can be traced back at least 400 years and often as far back as the last ice age. Many specialist species of insects,
birds and mammals rely on ancient woodlands for their survival.
Sadly, there are very few remaining in the UK. We are a small family business and we feel very privileged to live at
Thorneymire and to be able to act as caretakers to our amazing ancient woodland.
We would like to share the history, peace and tranquillity of this place with our guests

Our Shepherd’s Hut and Cabin are positioned within the woodland itself where guests can experience the magical array of wildlife and the unique
flora and fauna of our woodland up close.
Our cottage barn conversion was completed in April 2021. It is located directly opposite the woodland and all the woodland
life can be viewed from the window and the front door. Guests are also welcome to wander through the woods and experience
the Ancient Woodland atmosphere up close.
